Rain, Rain Go Away (From Bogota)!
April in Bogota means "mil lluvias" as they, but this year we have
seen tens of thousands of rains. Well that is an exageration but even
El Tiempo reported today that last year Bogota had 9 days of rain,
while this year we have seen 17 days of rain! Nearly double!
Rain Means Flooding
Lots of rain means lots of flooding. You can see lots of images on the nightly news of streets, whole neighborhoods that have become a kind of Venice with people wading thru them in rubber boots, trying in vain to get the knee-high water out of their houses. This happens every year. Its a tough problem to fix but you have to wonder, if this happens year after year, why doesn't someone do something about it. This year we have Garzon as Mayor, from the leftist Polo Democratico and we have heard barely a peep from him. Its disappointing.
The Endless Gray Skies
The worst part is the endless gray skies and the cooped-up feeling. I left Chicago 7 years ago precisely to get away from such depressing weather and here we are again! Thank God we're heading to Medellin again soon.
I dont know how reliable my source is since he was pretty drunk when he told me.
