FARC Attacks Bogotá with Bike-Bombs

The FARC are bringing the conflict to the cities with an innovation in urban terrorism: bicycle-bombs. Four police officers and a 5-year-old girl are dead, and 14 are injured, after a bomb exploded in front of a restaurant frequented by police in a working-class area of Bogotá. Two other bombs were found and deactivated in the Bogotá area, without casualties.

Bogotá Protests
On a side note, RCN News last night showed a darkened Bogotá with people turning off their lights for 3 minutes to protest recent FARC actions, including attacks on energy towers, a strategic bridge and Bogotá's water supply. The FARC may cut the electricity, stop the water and kill the police, but it doesn't look like the citizens of Bogotá will give in to them anytime soon.
Explosives Seized in Medellín
In Medellín, the authorities seized explosive materials, propaganda and 2 persons believed to be members of urban militias. Read about it at El Colombiano (in Spanish).
Read About it on the Web
Read about the Bogotá attacks at the BBC (text, audio), Reuters, CBS News, Financial Times, Chicago Tribune or El Colombiano (in Spanish). A photo of the bicycle, after the bomb went off.
