Indigenous Leader Killed
On Mar. 4 alleged paramilitaries abducted Colombian indigenous leader Samuel Fernandez Diza from a taxi parking lot across from a police station in the urban area of Santander de Quilichao, Cauca department; his body was found the next day on the road leading to Caloto municipality. Fernandez was the former governor of the Las Delicias indigenous reservation in Buenos Aires municipality. He was abducted while going to the police station to try to recover his motorcycle, which police had confiscated.
