Hello

I am from the netherlands and for a while now i am planning on going to colombia. My reasons may be a bit weird ... i am going because of a girl i met by the internet. It will take a lot more time before i am financially able to go to colombia.

On many days when i am serving the web i am trying to find things like the news from colombia but it seems to be hard to find.

My fammilie is very afraid not only because of posible bad intentions of the girl but also because they dont know a thing about colombia. At least at that point they are right its hard to find information and always i wonder wheter its treu or not and not blown out of proportion.

It makes me wonder am i the only one going to colombia without knowing other peolpe there or going for busness ?

LOL... am i so weird to go because i might love the girl :-)

Can peole tell me where to find pages in english that show relyable news ? Or dos some one has experience like mine it would be nice to know.

My excusses for my terrible english

Don't feel weird because a Colombian girl has charmed you - they are very special women. And VERY charming!

For "hard" news in English, try this...

http://www.bogotadaily.com/

Good luck!

Unfortunatedly, only bad news from colombia are shown in european countries, but it is a fact that 100% of foreigners who come to Colombia change their minds and fears in just a few minutes after arriving here. Bogota, main city, is a great, organized and friendly city.

Travelling in roads is a great experience, peopla are warm and nice, and our best ambassadors abroad are the foreigners when tehy return to their countries. Many of them return to Colombia or stablish here.

Of course, there are some risks as in any other place in the world, but if you look for advice, there will be no problem.

I geuss sailer is right in some way.
Since i have never seen a ugly girl from colombia.
Or they most selective show me the pictures like the news.
The bogota daily site you recommanded hasent updated its articals for over 10 days now ... so i wont bother to keep chekking that one.

to mr. daorrego
there are more places in the world that are dangerous but i am sorry to say that the officials here tell people that colombia is the most dangerous place to go.
not that i trust those people since they only tell you what they want you to know.
About the people who fisited colombia in stead of actualy are from colombia seem to be hard to find at least here in nederland.

To make shure not the whole topic becomes about safety let me tell you that i am not afraid something will happend.
i geuss that if i follow advice and keep my mouth shut on the given times i will be fine.
How ever it dosnt mean i dont know the risks invoulved.
i just dont think that poeple that dont inflickt something on thereselfs will be in trouble that easy.

Hello hemelskonijn. I just want to advise you to tread a bit carefully until you know the girls intentions. I hear many stories of Colombian girls playing along as though they are falling in love with an anglo-foreigner just to "get out" of the country. From my knowlege the Dutch are very honest people and though I come from a very honest Colombian family, I know many who can be a bit sneaky to get ahead in a tough country. Don't want to be negative, just my 2 cents because I just don't like seeing people get burned. Good luck!

Hmm ... thnx for youre hinest opinion.
Even if the girl would only play allong to get in to holland or another europian country they wont be a direct tread to me.
The same happend everywhere in the world people marrie for money and **** for less.
Its a risc called love i geuss.

Poeple do the weirdest things to get better in there opinions.
So i am not to afraid of that ...
My ex lived in the same town and left me when my busness wasnt going well after spending all my savings.
I have no regrets i only hope for her that some day she will be able to live her life without feeling the need to lie cheat and steel.

Since there ownt be any direct tread and she refused the offer i made to get her to me i dont think that her intentions are like that.
If they do ... to bad.

I like theat you call dutch poeple honest people but in the above i think i prove that location wont change the human need to get and be the best.
But thank you for the compliment.
Its good to know compleet strangers wont like to see me get burned.

Greetings, Hemelskonijn
